About the Coffee
The Minas Gerais state is one of the most prolific coffee-producing areas in Brazil. Some of the highest quality specialty coffee is grown here, particularly in the Cerrado and Sul de Minas regions, where each harvest consistently yields high-scoring lots and impressive cup profiles. Although the regions closely neighbor each other, Sul de Minas boasts a mild climate and an average altitude of 950masl, while the Cerrado biome enjoys distinct seasons and heights from 800 to 1300masl.

Cerrado is a model ecoregion for modern agriculture, led by the entrepreneurial spirit of farmers searching for a fresh start when crops in Parana and São Paulo were devastated by disease and pests in the 1970s. Backed by intense research from government agencies and supported by Cerrado’s ideal coffee-growing environment, the region thrives and continues to pave the way for innovative farming as a sustainable business.

About the Decaffeination Process
This sweet, chocolatey decaf was first naturally processed in Brazil, then decaffeinated with the Mountain Water process in Mexico. The coffee is soaked in pure water from the highest mountain in the region, Pico de Orizaba, to first extract caffeine and flavor compounds. Once the compound-rich water is filtered to remove 99.9% of the caffeine, it’s reintroduced to the beans so they can reabsorb their flavors.

The entire process is chemical-free and produces decaf coffee that stays true to the characteristics developed from Cerrado and Sul de Minas’ excellent terroir. A smooth fusion of chocolate and nuts highlighted by warm baking spices makes this a sweet Brazil Mountain Water Decaf that is a pleasure to drink any time of day.
